Faggione Secures Funding for Playground Equipment for Harriet Space Park in the Town of Deerpark
February 6, 2019 - Goshen, NY - Orange County Legislator Thomas Faggione has secured $40,000 for playground equipment in the Town of Deerpark. The funding is the result of a litigation settlement with no impact to county or municipal taxation. The new outdoor equipment will be installed at Harriet Space Park in Huguenot. This project marks another step forward in the enhancements of the popular park.
“Harriet Space Park is the perfect example of what we can accomplish when the community and government collaborate,” Legislator Faggione said. “The county owns this property, the Town of Deerpark diligently maintains the grounds, and community groups and organizations have contributed countless hours into making this park a true Field of Dreams.”
Harriet Space Park is Deerpark’s most expansive park and is open for public use. Several local youth sports groups, including the Port Jervis Little League, Redhawks travel baseball, and the Port Jervis Youth Football League practice and play games at the park.
Back in 2012, Town of Deerpark officials authorized improvements to the park. Then Town Supervisor Karl Brabenec, Councilman Dave Hoovler and Councilman Gary Spears oversaw construction of a new concession stand/restroom building and the development of football field and baseball diamonds. Their efforts were the first of many changes and improvements. Today, the park offers visitors a great place to play and enjoy the outdoors.
This and other matters will be ratified at Regular Session of the Orange County Legislature, Thursday, February 7th, 3:30pm. The meeting is open to the public.
