NYS Comptroller Tom DiNapoli and OC Legislator - Standing tall against corruption

Faggione supports DA & Comptroller in fight against corruption

Faggione has Zero tolerance for those who steal taxpayers trust and public interest for their own gain

June 28, 2021 - Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County Legislator Tom Faggione (R,C), Deerpark, has a simple policy when it comes to corruption… He’s against it!

“No matter their name, political affiliation, nor public prominence, if they are cheating the system, they should be held responsible and every penny be accounted for.” - Tom Faggione

Last week Faggione was in the audience at the Orange County Government Center when New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli and Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler outlined a felony scheme perpetrated by three members of the Orange County Industrial Development Agency.

Legislator Faggione, commented, “I am grateful for the efforts of local law enforcement, Orange County District Attorney Dave Hoovler, and New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. Their team efforts pinpointed those who made personal gain at the expense of the taxpayers.”

“Industrial Development Agencies exist to economically benefit their communities, not the officials running them. The defendants corrupted the Orange County IDA through a web of conflicts of interest, false statements and pay-offs,” said Comptroller DiNapoli. “Although their scheme was complex, their motives were simple: greed. We must have zero tolerance for public corruption.” - Comptroller DiNapoli’s Press Release on OC IDA.

Himself a small business owner, Legislator Faggione knows what it is like to own and operate a business in New York State.

“As much as small business is the backbone of our communities, the larger, industrial businesses and corporations have a value and place in our county as well. That being said, one thing is clear. New York State taxes too much. An IDA is living proof that New York taxes too much. The IDA makes deals to bring in big business through tax breaks and incentives. Albany needs to cut wasteful spending, lower taxes. Doing so will be the best draw for business to develop and thrive in New York.”

Faggione represents the citizens of the City of Port Jervis, Town of Deerpark, and Town of Mount Hope as Legislator for the 13th District.
