Orange County to hold Deputy Sheriff/Police Officer Exam September 2023
June 13, 2023 - Goshen, NY - Orange County will be holding an exam for individuals interested in becoming either police officers in Orange County’s towns or villages, or deputies in the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The written exam for town/village police officer or deputy positions in the Sheriff’s office will take place on September 9, 2023.
Individuals will be able to apply on-site to take the test, or they can file their application at the Orange County Human Resources office located at the County Government Center in Goshen (255 Main Street) by 5:00 p.m. on Jne 30, 2023.
To qualify to take the test, candidates must be United States Citizens and be at least 19 years old and no more than 35 years old as of the date of the written examination. Candidates must also meet at least one of several different educational qualifying circumstances including:
Three years of active military experience in the armed forces of the United States with an honorable discharge, or currently serving in the armed forces of the United States with a minimum of three years of active-duty service (submit a copy of your DD214 if discharged, or your military orders if still on active duty); OR
An Associate’s or bachelor’s degree, OR completion of sixty (60) college credits from an accredited college/university; OR
Completion of forty-five (45) college credits and the equivalent of six (6) months of work experience as a police officer, correction officer, police dispatcher, licensed security guard, or other related experience in the law enforcement, corrections, or miliary field as determined by Orange County Human Resources, OR
Completion of thirty (30) college credits and the equivalent of one (1) year of work experience as a police officer, correction officer, police dispatcher, licensed security guard, or other related experience in the law enforcement, corrections or military field as determined by Orange County Human Resources. All work experience is based on 35 hours a week with part-time work being pro-rated.

Anyone who would like to apply for the exam at the information session, please be sure to have with you copies of:
Driver’s license
Copy of college degree (Associate or Bachelor) OR a certified copy of college transcript(s)
Check/Money Order for $50.00 payable to the Orange County Commissioner of Finance.
If these documents are not available by the seminar date, an application can be submitted with payment at the information session, and the remaining required information must be submitted so that it is received at the Orange County Human Resources office or postmarked by June 30, 2023.
Attendance at an information session is not required to apply for the civil service test.
